What Is Credit Union House?
Credit Union House (CU House) is a unique events venue located on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. It is comprised of two adjacent townhomes that proudly reflect the rich history and permanency of the credit union movement as well as provide a “home away from home” for credit union advocates who come to DC to share their message with our nation’s leaders.
The credit union movement was built on cooperative efforts, and so too was CU House. The concept of a dedicated facility just blocks from the U.S. Capitol took shape following a major legislative battle in 1998. State credit union leagues, the America Association of Credit Union Leagues (AACUL), and CUNA resolved to increase credit unions’ political involvement and advocacy efforts at the national level. In 2001, CU House opened its doors - turning that vision into a beautiful brick-and-mortar reality.
